If you have tried dandruff shampoo before only to notice that weeks later it appears to have stopped working there is a reason for this.

Your scalp will normalize to dandruff shampoo formula over time often becoming unresponsive (and sometimes making the condition worse).

If your shoulders are constantly subjected to a blizzard of flakes in frequent need of dusting then here’s a special cure to alleviate the issue.

What You’ll Need

To resolve the problem, you have to frequently change up your dandruff shampoo formula to keep your dandruff in check. To start, you will need to purchase a set of 3 shampoos with the following 3 active ingredients:

  1. Zinc pyrithione (found in most dandruff shampoo brands)
  2. Ketoconazole (Nizoral brand)
  3. Coal tar extract (Original Neutrogena T-Gel Formula)

Instructions

It’s pretty simple. Just swap-out each shampoo brand every few days to every week with a different shampoo to keep your dandruff under control.

Scalp & Hair Extras

Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp, and there are some other products I would recommend in addition to the above regimen to help control dandruff and moisturize dry scalp.

  1. Aveda “Scalp Benefits” Shampoo & Conditioner
  2. Jojoba oil

Aveda Scalp Benefits Shampoo & Conditioner cleans down to the root, removes excess sebum and buildup, while alleviating dryness and itching.

Jojoba oil (pronounced ho-HO-ba) is the liquid wax produced from the seed of the jojoba plant. This oil is commonly used on the hair, scalp, and body. It doesn’t feel very oily, and it dries very quickly while locking in moisture. Plus, it’s great for a little hair styling too; gives you that hot, second-day hair look.

Oh and…

Stay away from hair products containing alcohol. Alcohol will contribute to your dandruff problems.

In addition to Jacob’s ideas for dandruff prevention, the best natural remedy for this is a mixture of honey and egg yolks. I’d suggest about one tbsp of honey to every egg yolk, and that will suffice for one treatment. Other than preventing dandruff, it provides protection from the sun and gives your hair a gleam that no chemical product ever will.
