I just covered shaving in part 1, and hair removal creams in part 2. Now, let’s talk about waxing your butt hair.
Waxing your butt, commonly known as a Boyzillian, is definitely the quickest and most thorough way to remove hair from your buttocks; however, it’s also one of the most painful.
Brazilian waxing though also includes your crotch area as well, not just your butt.
There are a few companies who make at-home waxing kits that can be used in pubic areas, but I would strongly advise against. This is a delicate area of your body and best beautified by the professionals.
How it Works
It’s pretty simple.
Warm wax is applied to the skin and a cloth strip is applied over the wax and then ripped-off quickly, in the opposite direction of the hair growth.
Your butt will be smooth for about 2 to 6 weeks. With each treatment the hair will grow back slower, finer, and with less density.
Pros
- Sensationally and erotically smooth
- Instant results
- Slower regrowth than shaving or depilatory creams
- Hair doesn’t grow back with stubble
Cons
- More expensive than shaving or depilatory creams
- Risk of ripping the skin
- Risk of burning the skin with the wax
- May get ingrown hairs and bumps
Tips for Getting Male Brazilian Waxing
- Only go to a spa/technician who specializes in male Brazilian waxing
- Make sure the technician you schedule your appointment with is licensed
- Ask if the technician has received any special training on male Brazilian waxing techniques (courses are offered in male Brazilian waxing techniques; not all estheticians have taken these courses)
- Ask how many male Brazilians your technician has performed to date
Preparing for Your Waxing
- Do not shave 10 to 14 days before you wax
- Take the pain reliever of your choice about an hour before
- Shower before your appointment
After Your Waxing
- Use a body scrub between waxing treatments to prevent ingrown hairs
- Use No Bump Skin Treatment to prevent bumps and ingrown hairs
- Use Balla powder to keep your bum dry
Costs
Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $100 for one waxing session.
Where to Go
Most major cities have estheticians who specialize in the male Brazilian, so you’ll need to check with the local spas in your area.
If you’re in New York, one well-known and reputable salon specializing in the male Brazilian is J. Sisters.

I plan on getting a brazilian for the first time, but have lots of questions about it…have time to answer a few?
