Yes, I totally went there!

More men are becoming attentive to their physical appearance with much attention paid to body hair, especially pubic hair.

Many men have hair on their buttocks and around their anus; it’s quite normal.

And believe it or not, the hair on your butt does serve a purpose. It helps provide friction while also keeping the area ventilated, plus the hair absorbs sweat.

However, if you find your duck tail to be a nuisance or detract from your physical appearance there are five options to treat the issue:

  1. shaving
  2. hair removal creams
  3. waxing
  4. laser hair removal
  5. trimming

We’ll review each, but in part 1 we’re going to examine shaving.

Shaving

Shaving is the quickest, most private way to remove unwanted hair.

Pros
Least expensive option, instant results, cleaner, smells better, more inviting

Cons
Skin irritation, razor burn, nicks and cuts, risk of infection, painful hair regrowth, pimples, ingrown hairs.

What You’ll Need
Here are the tools and products you’ll need:

  1. Razor blade (Gillette)
  2. Pre-shave oil (Lab Series Smooth Shave Oil)
  3. Shaving cream (Lab Series Maximum Comfort Shave Cream)
  4. Razor Bump Treatment (Tend Skin)
  5. Talcum powder (Balla Powder)
  6. Clean towel

Yes, you need all this stuff, otherwise, you’re going to be a little chapped.

How to Shave

  1. Apply the pre-shave oil first followed by shaving cream
  2. Wet your razor blade with cold water and shave in the direction of the hair
    • Be sure to press the razor blade against the skin lightly and slowly
    • Avoid shaving against the grain; it creates irritation and leads to ingrown hairs
    • Continue to rinse your blade in cold water only; cold water minimizes swelling and redness
    • For areas you can not see, be sure to use a mirror; avoiding nicks and cuts is very important in this area
  3. After you’ve shaved all the hair, rinse any excess shave cream off with cold water and pat yourself dry with a clean towel
  4. Apply a razor burn treatment to the entire area to help minimize any irritation and accelerate healing. Tend Skin works exceptionally well.
  5. Next apply talcum powder to the entire area
    • Talcum powder is a must if you want to shave your ass
    • It’s an ideal anti-chaffing and anti-wetness solution; it will keep feeling fresh and will help absorb sweat
    • You will need to apply this daily
  6. In a few days the hair will start to grow back and it will be almost impossible to avoid some irritation as the hairs begin to snag on your underwear.
    • Continue to reapply your razor burn treatment
    • Enjoy your smooth bottom!

I get my butt done in Southampton with sugaring, the woman is brilliant, nerves disappeared almost immediately, very professional and the place is very clean.

I get my butt professionally waxed. At a spa. At first it was strange the first time I did it. I female did it and I didn’t want her to think I was strange. But she did a great job. I didn’t have hair on my butt for weeks and when it grew there was no irritation or stubs. I hated shaving because it took too long since I have a bubble butt. And after it grew it looked like I had pimples on my ass. But when I waxed it, it was much better. My butt looks smooth, clean and I don’t worry about doing it very often. I’m definitely going to put talcum powder and use body wash and moisturizers bc in the summer I do sweat down there even in the crack and it feels weird.
